INSURRECTION AND NON VIOLENT DISSENT CAN BE COMPLEMENTARY!!!

Confession of a criminal: At fifteen, I started to violate Cuban laws. That day in 1953, in a house of Aureliano Sanchez-Arango, I became part of a sabotage action cell, given live phosphorous to target police and government cars. That day I began to violate laws, Cuban and international laws during two exiled stints. This wanting to violate existing laws was the result of a watchword understood that day, and heard from my guides , teachers, and patriotic teachers throughout my experiences: WHEN LAWS ARE CRIMINALLY ENFORCED, ONE MUST FOLLOW THE SUPERIOR LAW OF OUR OWN KNOWING AND UNDERSTANDING OF THINGS, UNTIL WE ARE FREED OF THOSE THAT ENFORECE LAWS CRIMINALLY”. I choose to fight, and have paid for some of my violations with prison time; and today, eight years after my last incarceration, I live restlessly seeing that in Cuba, those that enforce laws criminally, do it at will, without the “Cuban patriots” in exile launching a new attack…..now! The Cuban revolution is a patriotic process seeking our own freedom, which is a universal wish. To this freedom we get closer with each cycle of our insurrectional process, and now, we can see a new ingredient of the North American democracy that guarantees freedom by insuring all rights and goods of its citizens. From this system grows true private riches without threatening government’s powers. But before we can essay in Cuba this premise of the North American process, insurrectional war has to be waged against the 26 of July general’s dictators until they are overthrown. In this process of overthrowing dictators in Cuba, many patriots have died in the trenches, or of old age, forgotten by many or remembered for the convenience of the living. But there is always must be some Cubans ready to fight for our freedom. It is upon the few Cubans that can invest upon themselves the duty to fight, that the freedom of Cuba depends. I live comfortably, but restlessly, seeing no one is attacking the dictatorship of the 26 of July generals. This is why I write to you that talk about the liberation of Cuba, and fighting the dictatorship in Cuba, but having the means at your hand, do nothing. The time to fight the general’s dictators is to come; we must invest upon ourselves the spirit of our forefathers, or die of old age in exile. With each passing day, the understanding of what is our duty in this exile, become more incomprehensible to the Cuban economic immigration.
